Ian joined Spacehub in August 2022 in the final months of his MLA course at the University of Greenwich. He also holds a BA in urban planning from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. His approach to landscape is grounded in planning and sustainable development practices gained through previous work in the US.
After finishing his undergraduate course, Ian worked for a small development start-up in Washington State, undertaking planning submissions and overseeing operations of Galbraith Mountain, a local recreation hub and working forest. From his work in the US, Ian has gained an understanding of how to safely and enjoyably integrate dramatically different uses into the same landscape.
Ian is interested in the dynamic nature of landscapes; using site photography and sketching to understand how different users engage with a space. He sees the landscape as a story to both be uncovered and told simultaneously through thoughtful design.
