SPACEHUB – February 2023 Newsletter

February has come and gone. Fortunately, the short cold days were illuminated by an eventful month here in the Spacehub studio. Here are a few moments and milestones we are delighted to share with you.

Highams Park

68 Homes, a new entrance to Highams Park Station, commercial space and public realm has been approved via a planning inquiry.

Swansea Castle Square planning permission

We are delighted to hear Castle Square has received planning approval; Client City & County of Swansea and the local Swansea communities’ vision to provide new and diverse green spaces is one step closer to reality. The proposal includes extensive green infrastructure with key planting principles formed around drought tolerance, SuDS, wildlife friendly, shelter and seasonality. The below image is part of our process to test the mix of plant communities, variation in character and interest throughout the seasons. Congratulations to the team City & County of Swansea, ACME London, Civic Engineers, Atelier Ten, Savills, and Spider Projects.

South Bank/Bankside day out

For February’s Friday Fun Day, we headed out from behind the screen to check out several new and old schemes by other practices and even an exhibition around the South Bank. Strolling past Better Bankside interventions, Gibbons Rent, the Low Line, Bankside Yards and Jubilee Park. We stopped at the Tate Modern to visit Cecilia Vicuna’s ‘Brain forest Quipu’ exhibition in the Turbine Hall and finished off at the newly opened Borough Yards. We have almost finished wintering now and look forward to exploring more this spring.
