The Truman Brewery Masterplan is a landscape-led transformation of the iconic East London site, designed by Spacehub in collaboration with Buckley Gray Yeoman the Masterplan Architects and other partners. The scheme introduces over 2700m² of new high-quality, publicly accessible public realm, weaving together vibrant yards, intimate lanes, and bustling streets.
Chimney Yard provides a flexible canvas for events, markets, and art installations, while Cooperage Yard offers a greener, calmer social space with rain gardens, native planting, and spaces for informal play. Throughout, the design prioritises biodiversity, resilience, and community, with over 300m² of rain gardens, 2000m² of biodiverse roofs, and 13 new trees across the site. Enhanced pedestrian routes improve connectivity with Brick Lane and Allen Gardens, creating a layered public realm that reflects the unique character of the area whilst supporting social interaction, urban greening, and sustainable drainage. The masterplan embraces the spirit of the Truman Brewery as a hub for creativity and cultural exchange, fostering a dynamic, welcoming environment for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
