Orchard Wharf is a major mixed-use development in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, designed in collaboration with Howells.
Located at the confluence of the River Thames and River Lea, the scheme creates over 2,700m² of high-quality, publicly accessible open space, including a pocket park, riverside promenade, and pedestrian-friendly streets. The landscape features rain gardens that manage stormwater and support native wetland species, woodland planting echoing the nearby East India Dock Basin, and drought-tolerant, self-seeding pioneer species that extend local habitats into the site.
Podium gardens offer spaces for growing, social gathering, and play, with layered planting creating seasonal colour and biodiversity benefits. Biodiverse roofs incorporate wildflower-rich meadows and habitat features such as log piles and shallow water basins. The landscape design prioritises resilience, urban greening, and long-term stewardship, creating a green, welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.
