St Magnus House is a major public realm and landscape transformation designed by Spacehub in collaboration with Buckley Gray Yeoman Architects. The scheme reimagines the ground floor, first-floor terrace and rooftop of St Magnus House, introducing extensive tree planting, climate-resilient biodiverse gardens and a significant uplift in ecological value. New step-free connections enhance movement between Lower Thames Street, the Thames Path, Fresh Wharf Yard and Old Watermen’s Walk.
The proposals deliver 48 new trees, boosting ecological value by 136% and increasing urban greening by 2.7 times. Key features include biodiverse green roofs, fully accessible routes, inclusive seating, and a new lift providing access to the public terrace and café, alongside inclusive play areas co-designed with the Royal Society for Blind Children. Materials sourced on site have also been repurposed for paving, mulch and habitat creation.
Construction is currently underway, and Spacehub is actively coordinating with the head contractor, Mace, and the wider consultant team to deliver the scheme.
