Spacehub worked with Assael Architects to develop the concept design of the Dreamland site in Margate. The challenge was to create a residential neighbourhood focused around a major tourist attraction, the scenic railway roller-coaster.
The design sets the scenic railway in a garden inspired by the original Italian pleasure gardens that once occupied the site. The gardens are divided into 7 character areas that lead visitors on a picturesque journey around the scenic railway. Each area is uniquely themed offering tourists and residents a sense of generosity and fun.
The gardens also include artist workshops, a covered market place and a multi-storey carpark that doubles as a flexible covered events space.
