Camden Film Quarter is a new city-centre film production campus – the first of its kind in the UK – alongside associated educational uses, a re-provided reuse and recycling centre, an energy centre, and affordable housing. Working closely with SPPARC Architects and on behalf of Yoo Capital, Spacehub have led the design of the landscape and public realm for this ambitious mixed-use masterplan. The proposals create an integrated green infrastructure strategy with new green connections linking the site to its wider context and key local open spaces such as Hampstead Heath.
The landscape narrative uses water as a theme to conceptually reveal and celebrate the hidden River Fleet, which is expressed in the form of sustainable urban drainage, rainwater attenuation, water play, planting character, and ecology.
Spacehub worked with the wider team to develop the Regis Road Area Guidance SPD, which establishes a wider long-term masterplan framework for the surrounding area. These proposals build on this guidance, and will deliver a new local park, gardens, playspace, improved streetscape prioritising active transport, and a publicly accessible roof garden with views over the London skyline. In total, over 1.1 hectares of public realm will be delivered, with over 300 new trees planted.
