Planning success for Leamouth South

Spacehub are delighted to announce that last night the London Borough of Tower Hamlets granted planning permission for Leamouth South, Ballymore’s latest exciting new development in London’s East Docklands.

Working in close collaboration with masterplan architects Allies and Morrison we have sought to design a high density residential scheme with a real sense of place responsive to its unusual context, rich in historical narrative. Located directly South of Ballymore’s London City Island the masterplan improves connections and opens up new sections of the riverfront for the public. The public realm incorporates flexible ‘Yards’ and ‘Slips’, inspired by the character of the adjoining artist community, Trinity Buoy Wharf, and the historic maritime setting.

At the heart of the development is a new square on the site of the old Dry dock. An existing caisson (floating gate) is restored and reused as a viewing platform overlooking the River Thames and Millennium Dome beyond.  The upcycling of a site won oil tank creates a unique play feature reminiscent of the previous Tipple House that was once located here.
