Caring Wood wins RIBA House of the Year 2017

We are thrilled that Caring Wood has been awarded the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects House of the Year! Congratulations to all involved. This project was a pleasure to be a part of from start to finish.

The landscape brief was to transform the 84 acre estate into a more sustainable landscape environment, integrate the building into the existing escarpment and create series of planted terrace gardens around the house. In order the wrap the landscape over the building engineered slopes were built up in layers with rocks embedded into the construction to give a natural appearance. The planting design transitions from colourful garden to surrounding meadow and achieves ‘Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6’. Since completing construction in November 2017 the landscape of new woodlands, orchards, meadow and gardens continues to develop and flourish.
